Another day, another amazing single from Taken Alive. I seriously can not stress enough that this is a band that deserves your attention and love right now and, just in case you’ve missed all of the other singles I’ve shared out from them, I’m here to remind you of Taken Alive’s awesomeness by sharing out “Toaster.”
The name of this song is simple and really evokes very little emotion but, within the first few seconds of this track, Taken Alive hits you with an ocean full of feelings and love. It’s a laidback pop-punk anthem about surviving. Okay, it’s not really that simple. The song talks about what happens when you hit a breaking point and when you have to go against your instincts, maybe even morals, to survive. Dark, I know, but, in true Taken Alive, they give this subject a slightly positive spin with their bright instrumentation and heart-on-sleeve delivery. “Toaster” is quick at just under three minutes and, truthfully, there are times when it feels repetitive but that repetition just drives the message of this track. If I’m being honest (see what I did there?) this song is so powerful and it’s one of those tracks that will get stuck in your head while giving you this feeling of resilient triumph all at the same time.
