A couple of weeks ago, I was having nightmares every night. I hated it and, although I don’t remember what the nightmares were actually about at this point, I remember not getting much sleep because of them. This really has nothing to do with “Reflections” from Dreams As Nightmares but is purely a reflection on the last time my dreams were nightmares (see what I did there?).

Okay, tortured intro aside, this new song from Las Vegas-based Dreams As Nightmares is truly flawless. It’s a nearly five-minute journey about looking in the mirror and not quite recognizing what is staring back at you. It’s something we all have felt at one time or another, but probably all interpret differently. This song talks about interpreting that unfamiliar image as something to be accepted. Long story short, “Reflections” is about loving yourself through all of the uncertainty, traumas, failures, and changes you may go through. This song feels like a tug of war between something super tender and emotional and something much more fierce and unforgiving. Honestly, this song feels like my mind being put into a track. Although the dynamics are stark and the contrast throughout this song seems like it’s almost too much, it feels like life. The good and the bad all crushed together in one blistering and perfect track. “Reflections” is from Dreams As Nightmares’ debut EP, ‘Wish for Solace,’ so, if you like what you hear here, make sure to check out the EP in full.
