I got nothing for you right now. I’m just trying to get through the day, one email at a time and one song at a time so let’s just keep it moving and check out “Dead End Ave” from Up From Here.
This song is the epitome of pop-punk-perfection. Produced by Derek Discanio from State Champs, Up From Here wastes no time and hits you with a super infectious chorus within the first forty-seconds but that’s not the best past of this song. The best part, for me, is what happens towards the end. Don’t get me wrong, this entire song is great but the breakdown that Up From Here adds to “Dead End Ave” around the two minute and five second mark is absolutely stellar. It feels like a loaded exclamation point to a song that is already full of heart. Although I would have loved to have gotten a bit more angst from said breakdown, I love how perfectly it fits into this track and how it felt like a blast of energy to my tired soul.
