I didn’t have breakfast this morning. I honestly just ran out of time because I hit the snooze button one too many times. This is all fine and dandy. I’m an adult. I can skip breakfast and not die. That being said, my stomach will not stop rumbling. I don’t have any snacks left at my desk right now besides a bag of nasty chips I am trying to avoid, and I still have a few hours before lunch. I need a distraction from this gremlin in my stomach, and the best distraction is always new music, so let’s dive into “Deals! Deals! Deals!” by Gun Laws.

Hailing from Naarm/Melbourne, Australia, Gun Laws has a distinct, explosive sound that hits you like a freight train, but in a subtle way. This song is about life. I know that is so general and vague, but that’s all you’re going to get from me. It’s about life’s ups and downs. The challenges and triumphs. The good and the bad; it’s about all of it, and, like that vague message, the style of this song is also vague. There’s no box to put this song into. There’s jazzy elements that glisten under a post-hardcore kind of bass while an almost electronic tone casts a shadow over the entire, five minute long single. Some moments gave me At The Drive In vibes, while others sounded like nothing I had ever heard before. Whatever vibe I was picking up, Gun Laws had me hooked through this super innovative, unique, and perfect track.
