Rocktober is taking its toll on me, but in a beautiful way. It’s been night after night of shows, and each show has been amazing as of late. Although tired and definitely feeling the stress of trying to fit everything into days when I’m out far too late for shows, I’m feeling great and ready for not only the next show, but the next amazing new single to share with you. I know it’s early; it’s Friday, and up here in Minneapolis, it’s a cold and dreary day. I’m ready to jump into it with “Landmine” from Oceanvein.

The lead single from Oceanvein’s new EP, “Landmine,” is the kind of single that makes you feel so many things at once. It will make you feel angsty and angry, but also calm and cozy at the same time. It’s a heavy song, but within that heaviness, the band isn’t afraid to play with tenderness, which gives this four-and-a-half-minute song an insane sense of depth. This song feels like swimming through the oceans of your mind, which, I know, can feel like a Herculean task on a Friday morning when you’re counting down the minutes until the weekend takes over, but trust me, it’s worth the dive. It’s a stunning song full of explosive instrumentation, heartfelt vocals, and a unique take on a familiar sound.
