About an hour ago, I would have said a song by a band called No Sunlight fit today perfectly, but now, as I look out my window, I see the sun trying to peek out. Honestly, I don’t care. I really like gloomy weather, especially this time of year, but I don’t know if I’m ready to say goodbye to the summer sun yet. I’m a bit conflicted about these rays of light coming through my office window, but I’m not indifferent about my love for No Sunlight the band or “Strangers” the song.

It’s not just the chorus that gets stuck in your head; it’s the whole damn thing. “Strangers” is a song about that weird spot between staying and leaving. Although it is written in the context of a relationship, it’s one of those songs that could apply to many situations. It’s about drifting apart but not ready to give up the ghost quite yet. It captures everything from frustration to sadness, and all the way to triumph by the end of the track. I love that No Sunlight was able to explain and lay out the feelings that come with a situation none of us like, but all of us experience. Add the fact that they have paired it with a super pop-punk, perfect kind of song, and you are left with an anthemic, sing-along-style track that will help you through those times when maybe it’s best to just take the plunge and let go.
