I am still on cloud nine after last night’s show. It was truly one of those just fantastic shows that will not soon be forgotten, and although I was up a bit later than expected, trying to work through the photos from said show, I’m feeling rested and ready to take on the day one single at a time, starting with “Heaven for Her” from Danny Justice.

This song isn’t the most cheery song you will hear all day when it comes to the subject matter, but it’s such a bright and upbeat feeling song that it’s a great way to kick off a sleepy and gloomy Wednesday morning. “Heaven for Her” is a song about loss and redemption. It’s about trying to make sense of life after someone is gone and the way that all you can do is keep on moving forward while keeping that loss in your heart in a way and honoring whoever or whatever was lost. I love how this song feels upbeat but also feels stunningly beautiful and tender. The structure of the track is somehow stripped-down, but at the same time, it comes off as perfectly polished and, at times, even triumphant. Long story short, “Heaven for Her” from Danny Justice is a sensitive banger or, as Kalyn Fay coined her own songs the other night when I saw her at The Turf Club, a “Bummer Banger,” and it’s just too perfect not to spend some time with today.
