I’ll admit, I’m really loving e-interviewing people lately! I just love getting an inside look at musician’s lives and not just the music side of it. I feel like music does a lot of talking already so it has been fun to really get to know more random tidbits about these amazing musicians. This interview with Olivia Bell absolutely gives you some insight into this amazing musician and is sure to have you falling in love with her even more! Check out the whole review and then make sure to check out her new song “Freddie Prinze Jr.” (don’t worry, the link is below)!
What’s a new hobby you have taken up during quarantine? If no hobby, is there a random TV show that you binged/ have a very strong opinion on?
Definitely Pokémon collecting! last summer I was obsessed with playing pokémon go. I still play go but now I’m obsessed with actual card collecting!! as for tv, I pretty much just watch any true-crime documentary I can get my hands on!
What’s your go-to coffee order?
I am a novice coffee drinker, so if you see me with coffee it is definitely a dunkin’ small (or medium if it’s looking like it’s gonna be one of those days) iced coffee with vanilla and mocha, reg sugar, and almond milk instead of cream!
Did Matt Skiba help or hurt Blink 182? Or, if you have no opinion, that’s fine too (although I’ll absolutely be judging you)!
I can appreciate Skiba blink but DeLonge blink will always be my favorite. (although “she’s out of her mind” and “sober” are, in my opinion, two of the best songs out of Blink’s entire discography, so take from that what you will. 😉
What’s your favorite frozen pizza? (either brand or topping combo)
I know a lot about this topic because I have frozen pizza at least once a week. gotta go with DiGiorno, but in a pinch, I’ll take any pepperoni rising crust that’s on sale (HAS to be rising crust though, made that mistake before)
What’s the most awkward date you’ve ever been on?
There was one with this guy I went to high school with who tried to impress me by being a law student… speaking of which, I might have a song about that coming soon…
Are you okay with unconventional interview questions? (too late!)
Unconventional is the best way!
Favorite lyrics of all time? (it can be a full song, a phrase, etc. just please let me know who it is and what song!)
I always say I went to the songwriting school of Taylor Swift, so she has to be my biggest songwriter inspiration, hands down. Lyrically, “All Too Well” is probably my favorite song of all time. However, surprisingly two of my other favorite lyrics don’t exactly represent my daily music preferences. First example: “I know that you’re in love with him because I saw you dancing in the gym” from Don McLean’s “American Pie”. To me, just this line alone tells a complex, heart-wrenching story about adolescent heartbreak and I think it is criminally underrated. I also love the line “I love you in the same way there’s a chapel in a hospital” by Fall Out Boy from the song “Hum Hallelujah”. Again it paints such an interesting picture of a tragic love that I couldn’t imagine having come up with myself. I wasn’t a fan of the last two fob albums, but I will forever admire Pete Wentz’s lyricism and storytelling.
What’s your favorite method of listening to music (i.e. vinyl, cassette, 8-track, etc.)
I am slowly building my vinyl collection, but my favorite and most used method is Spotify (i am very loyal to Spotify)
If you were to rob a bank, what would be the song playing in the getaway car as you escape?
Is “Getaway Car” by Taylor Swift too much of a cop-out answer? it would be pretty badass though…
Where were you when you wrote “Freddie Prinze Jr.”?
About 3 years ago I was going through a major late 90s-early 00s teen rom-com phase…. I sat down to write a song about a crush I had on a boy I worked with and was watching “She’s All That” on VHS in my room and it really wrote itself!
What’s one thing I should know before listening to “Freddie Prinze Jr.”?
You should know I appreciate you giving your time to the song more than I could ever express. I hope it gives you a fun little reprieve from our insane, post-2020 world and takes you back to the early 2000s for a little bit. say hi to FPJ for me while you’re there! 😉
