One-person bands have always been a weakness for me. I have a hard enough time just keeping my chops up on the few instruments I do play. Thinking about having to do that with multiple instruments while singing— it just baffles me how someone can do all of that and do it so flawlessly to the point where they can record a full song. The first time I heard “Kicked Out of the Sky” by the musician of the same name, I couldn’t help but fall in love and want to know so much more about this amazing musician! As you know, I don’t care about gear, speakers, or how something was recorded and what pedals were used, I want to know the deeper questions like what kind of bird you would be or your thoughts on Blink 182. Thankfully, Matt Bachman (Kicked Out of the sky) played along with my silly questions.

If you could compare yourself to an animal, what would it be and why?  

Ohhhh, I’m a monkey for sure. I’m hyper and talkative and I like to throw my poo at agitators and meanies.

What’s a new hobby you have taken up during quarantine? If no hobby, is there a random TV show that you binged/ have a very strong opinion on?

Hobby, not so much, (unless you consider masturbation a hobby) but definitely big on the binging… I have binged like so many series that I would be mentioning all day. Strong opinion on a series. I’m pissed there is only one season left of Ozark and I hate that This Is Us makes me ugly cry.


What’s your go-to coffee order?

Grande, White chocolate mocha decaf, with oat milk and no whipped cream… Not really a “coffee” but I dig the sweet punch in the mouth and it’s a little treat in a cup.


Favorite method of listening to music (i.e. vinyl, cassette, 8-track, etc.)? 

Vinyl is cool, I do have a few records and a shitty record player, but mostly I listen to the radio or on my phone, my own playlist.
Are you okay with unconventional interview questions?

Good one… I actually dig this, as it’s more real and fun, so you go… I like your style kid.


What’s the most awkward date you’ve ever been on?

Well, I’ve been on a few dates over the years, I would say the ones that I knew immediately there was no connection from the moment I met my date in person have been the most fucked up. One date that sticks out in my mind was, a dinner date, I went to the restroom and when I came back my date was gone, like fuck you, I’m outta here gone. It sucked ass… But I paid the bill and left with my pride intact.   

Did Matt Skiba help or hurt Blink 182? Or, if you have no opinion, that’s fine too (although I’ll absolutely be judging you)!

I’m more of an og Blink fan, so Tom gave blink the sound I’m more into. Nothing against Matt. I have not heard the new NINE music, so I really can’t weigh in on that at the moment.  


Favorite lyrics of all time?

That’s a toughy… I’m more into the melody, beat, and guitar movements than the actual lyrical approach. I’m usually the guy singing the wrong words to a song I’ve heard a hundred times. I will say I dig more sing-songy rhymes in a song than what is actually being said, I know I’m shallow that way.


If you could compare yourself to a bird, what bird would it be and why?

A crow, they’re scrappy, survivors, they have kick-ass black feathers (I’m all about wearing black) and they’re street smart. 

If you were to rob a bank, what would be the song playing in the getaway car as you escape?

Steve Miller “Take The Money and Run” Ha!!  


What’s one thing I should know before listening to “Kicked Out Of The Sky”?

That I wasn’t wearing any clothes while I recorded the track, Ha! I played and wrote all the instrumentation, wrote the lyrics, sang all vocal parts, and produced the entire song. I hope you dig it and it brings joy to whoever listens to the single “Kicked Out Of The Sky” Music is my passion, and I do what I do for me. I’ll be releasing new material soon.
