I know this sucks to think about but summer is coming to an end especially for us up here in Minnesota. I mean, don’t get me wrong, we still have a couple weeks left of pool weather and sunny skies but, before we know it, it will be time to pull out our coats, boots and brace ourselves for winter. That’s why “The Last Day of Summer” is a perfect fit for today. Well, that and the fact that this track is just straight-up amazing.

To say that this pop-punk track is infectious would be an understatement. Right off the bat, it will have you nodding your head to the beat and tapping your toes all the while pretending like you’re in a little one-person mosh-pit. Okay, maybe that’s just me but the energy that comes through loud and clear in this track is amazing and it begs to be seen live. Being based in Gainesville, FL, I’m not sure when I’ll actually be able to catch Mike & The Nerve live but I love how this song’s energy helps me cope with that fact. Stylistically, this is very much a pop-punk track but I love that it leans in a bit more to the punk side of things. With clear nods to everything from Hot Water Music to The Menzingers, there’s an edge here that is just as infectious as the beat.
