What a dark and dreary day up here in Minneapolis. I typically thrive in this environment but today it just has me feeling sleepy and ready to head home and take a nap before my show tonight. Thankfully, I have amazing songs like “What They Call Me” from poıntless to keep me going.
Much like poıntless said in their bio I read, “life ain’t poıntless with good music” and good music is just what you’ll get from “What They Call Me”. I’m not sure what is in the water in Berlin but the amount of power that comes through in this track is perfectly deafening without being over the top. There’s this odd catchiness that comes alongside the angst and power throughout this song that I wasn’t expecting. The chorus is infectious to say the least and bridges this song into a style a bit more accessible but, overall, I would call this a alt-rock leaning song with post-hardcore tendencies and a poppy little vibe to the chorus. Although I suggest you listen to this four minute long song in it’s entirety, one of the things I really like about “What They Call Me” is all of the movement throughout the song. You could skip throughout the track and find a million different bits and pieces that, at first listen, shouldn’t work together but poıntless has patchworked all of these diverse styles into something truly beautiful and unique.
