I am still trying to get over the stunning and dazzling performance I got from Sam Smith last night. I know their music isn’t my normal listen but it was a stellar show that left me lost in all of the right ways. I am struggling to get back into work this morning because of it so I’m hoping that listening to some more music that’s a bit more my style may help me find the motivation to get crap done today so let’s jump right in, shall we?

We’re kicking today off with “Generation” from Coat of Arms. There’s an intensity and sense of heaviness in this song that caught me right off the bat. Coat of Arms has a perfect blend of metal, metalcore, and even elements of djent thrown into this song but it’s that intensity and emotion that really made this a hot track for me. “Generation” is a song about realizing that growing up, well, it sucks, and every once in awhile, you just want to go back to being a kid. I mean, who can’t relate to that? It’s a heavy subject (hence the heaviness in this track) but Coat of Arms does such a flawless job of laying it out for you. Whether you pick up on the weight of the words throughout this song or latch onto the intensity of the instrumentation and vocals, this song is a powerful one and more than worth you attention.
