I’m having a hard time concentrating on work at this point. I think I’m just a bit checked out for the day which is fine because I’ve gotten so much done but I can’t justify leaving the office this early so I need to fill my time with something. On top of my apparently inability to work, I can’t seem to figure out what to listen to. This all means it’s time to do a rapid fire round of sharing amazing singles out starting with “past the brakelights” from WIMS.
WIMS is from Jersey City and brings with them a sound that will absolutely be your thing if you have any pop-punk drenched bone in your body. Oddly enough, before pushing play on this song, I was listening to Hot Mulligan. The transition from Hot Mulligan to WIMS was absolutely seamless stylistically which should tell you quite a bit about the pop-punk styling of WIMS but it was also easy to hear WIMS’ own take on the style. There’s angst, energy, and even a subtle touch of tenderness throughout this song. Add in the pop-punk perfect music video which shows the band playing in what seems to be a fairly normal front yard while low-key letting chaos happen and you are left with what I’m going to go ahead and call my pop-punk-perfect pick of the day!
