Girl at the Rock Shows

What day is it even? I half mean that jokingly but also am so serious about it. I feel like everything has just been so insane but, after this weekend, things will get back to normal and I will get back into the grind. I’m heading out of town this coming weekend which is where my head is at right now making concentrating on work hard but there’s so much to do and I can’t just throw in the towel. Thankfully for me, there’s a crap ton of new music to share with you today which will surely help keep my motivation up so let’s just jump into it starting with “Nightjar” from The Republic of Wolves.

The first single from The Republic of Wolves’ new EP ‘Why Would Anyone Want To Live This Long?’, “Nightjar” comes with an old school emo influence but an undeniable sense of power as well. There’s something lush and textured about this song but it’s far from an ambient track. The crystal clear vocals command this track into a powerful song that will make you feel things that you maybe didn’t know you were feeling right now. It’s dramatic but such a great vibe to kick off a sleepy Wednesday with. Beyond the balance of energy and beauty in this track is just the pure musicianship that comes through with every passing beat. Dazzling guitars bring the focus off of the powerful drums in such a brilliant yet subtle way. Sure, there are moments where the power of The Republic of Wolves’ sound seems to over power the beautiful and lush atmosphere of other moments but that’s what makes “Nightjar” such a brilliant song and The Republic of Wolves a band to truly keep your eyes on as we get into 2024.
