Girl at the Rock Shows

I am perpetually tired. If you know me personally, you know this. It doesn’t matter where I am or what’s going on, if I sit down or just stop doing things for a hot minute, I’ll fall fast asleep in the blink of an eye. It’s just how I am so when The Carolyn came across my desk with the description, “Sleep deprived punk trio from Atlanta, Georgia”, I knew I had to hear what they had going on. I’m glad I did because their track “Casi Infinito” is a heck of a song.

Although this song is ridiculously short at only one minute and eighteen seconds, The Carolyn uses every second so expertly as if to not waste your time or theirs. With a classic pop-punk undertone but with moments that lean a bit more punk and others that seem to lean a bit more alt-rock, “Casi Infinito” instantly had me hooked. The steady yet pronounced drum beat drives this already quick song to a warp-speed but the emotion that comes with every word helps it from feeling rushed. There’s a slight break towards the end of the song that feels like it’s leading up to something but, instead, it just ends the track. Part of me thought this was brilliant but the other part of me hated this sudden ending. Regardless of what you think of the ending of this song, The Carolyn leaves you on a bit of a cliffhanger here meaning you should go ahead and set aside some time to check out their other tracks that are out there.
