Girl at the Rock Shows

I’m not in the mood to start actually working today and am not sure that I will ever get to that point so, instead of just sitting here, let’s be productive and check out another new single. This one is “M.I.A.?” from Matt Sanderlin and I absolutely adore it.

This song is Matt Sanderlin’s homage to their favorite 90s and 00s pop-punk bands and it makes me think that Matt and I are obsessed with the same bands. There’s something a little Weezer about this song with the chill yet playful nature of the track. At the same time, there are clear nods to something a bit more punk like Blink 182 and Motion City Soundtrack. All of these nods are subtle when compared to the sound that can only be called that of Matt Sanderlin but that’s what makes this song so perfect. At just three minutes, this is a quick bop but it’s perfect. Matt knows exactly how to craft a perfect song and “M.I.A.?” is proof of that.
