Honestly, I’ve never heard of a double single before but after hearing this one from Fates Messenger, I hope I get more of these. That being said, it takes a certain band to pull something off like this so let’s talk about all the ways that Fates Messenger pulled it off and let me gush over how amazing this band is for a bit.
As one may assume, a double single just means two songs fit into one track. The reason I say that not every band can pull this off is because the two songs have to have some interwoven elements while being distinctively different. You get both of those things with Fates Messenger. Both “World Collapse” and “Carved In Stone” come with a signature blend of power and brutality from this UK-based Thrash/ Metalcore four-piece. Although there is a separation between the two tracks, you really only catch it if you’re paying attention. Another way that this is so flawless is how the lyrics and themes behind each song play off of each other. “World Collapse” is about fragility and weakness while “Carved In Stone” is more about following your heart and sticking to your guns. All of these contrasting thoughts and reccuring themes make this double-single a track (or tracks) that just have to be heard.
