I’m not going to lie– I’m struggling today. A mixture of exhaustion, one too many drinks last night, and a never ending stream of incoming emails has me feeling defeated and just done. I’m excited for the show I have tonight because I definitely need to blow off some steam but it feels like with every passing moment, that show is further and further away. All I can think of to do is take a break and check out some new music and, thankfully, the next song I have to share with you is “The Real Me” from Some People’s Kids which is a true banger of a track.

“The Real Me” is the first single of the year for Some People’s Kids and if it’s any indication of what’s to come from this band in the future, well, they have my attention. This is another pop-punk-perfect kind of track but it comes with a side serving of angst. It’s not blatant angst. There’s aren’t certain words that seem to come at you with a sharp-tongue but it’s more in the composition of this song and furious pace that it seems to hit you with. Even with the warp speed that I felt from this song, I loved how everything came through loud and clear. There wasn’t a moment in this nearly three minute song where I felt that the band was losing control in fact, it was quite the opposite. Some People’s Kids has a strong sound and they clearly know what they are doing with it. Cheers to many more amazing singles from this great band in the near future!
