Girl at the Rock Shows

Although I’m not an “artist” in the typical form of the word, I am a creative type so I instantly fell head over heels in love with Kickflip Colosseum’s song “Tragic Life of an Artist”. Although I wouldn’t say my life is tragic, I will say that it has a few more bumps in the road that my peers solely due to being such a creative type and an entrepeneur and this song addresses that feeling so perfectly.

On top of the message of this song, which I will get into in a second, this is a pop-punk perfect jam. It took me down memory lane within the first couple of seconds while also giving me a breath of fresh air. The first fifty seconds of this song are fairly standard but, by the fifty-one second mark, you get to feel just how catchy and infectious this song is. As for the lyrics, honestly, I would try to bring my own words to lay it all out for you but I feel like the information I was given with this song is just too perfect. “This song reflects on the struggles of trying to pursue music while also having to make bill payments and work hard for your living. Maxing out hours every week and not wanting to do anything but your art, it causes every relationship, job, and professional pursuit to always be one foot in, one foot out, as you dream daily of your art making it big. It is the inner thought process of any artist on a small scale dealing with the fact that music just isn’t paying the bills, but life goes on.” To say that those feelings are something I deal with on a daily basis would be an understatement and it really made this song a relatable anthem for me that I will be singing for days to come.
