“Can’t Take My Soul” from Honey Daze is one of those songs that came to me with next to no background. Other than a small description saying that this song is “about not wanting to get stuck in a job position you are working”, I had nothing to go off of but, with a band like Honey Daze, you really don’t need much.
Although I truly love all of my jobs, the sentiment behind this track is something we can all relate to in some way or another. What helps the relatability of this song is the power and emotion that comes with every passing beat throughout this three minute and twenty song set. It’s intense and chaotic but there are so many dynamics and so many ups and downs that Honey Daze gives you the perfect amount of time to catch your breath before plunging you back into their intense world of power. “Can’t Take My Soul” is only the second single from Honey Daze (the only other small detail I was given with this track) and I truly think that, after hearing this song, can we go ahead and expect a lot more greatness from this up-and-coming band!
