I’m a one-women show over here. I mean that not only with this blog, but also with my booking company. I’m a bit of a control freak so it works well for me but, on days like today, it’s absolutely overwhelming and, sometimes, the pressure is almost too much to bear. I think this is why I like one-human band’s so much which is one of the many reasons I was drawn to “Unreliable Narrator” from Shower Days.
Shower Days is a one-man DIY punk band from Ontario, Canada but, honestly, you wouldn’t know that when you listen to “Unreliable Narrator”. This song, although a bit rough around the edges (but that’s in line with that DIY punk sound), is full of life and it feels like so much more than just one band. “Unreliable Narrator” is “a somber and self-reflective punk song” as Shower Days puts it. The song has that slight Fat Wreck vibe to it reminding me a bit of bands like No Use For A Name and Against Me! but there’s also a slight 90s influence that comes through in this song at the same time. This track is four minutes long but it flies by due to the furious pace of the track and just the endless amount of energy that comes with it. Shower Days mentioned in the pitch they he was really proud of how this song turned out and he should be. It’s an anthemic track that will leave you wanting so much more from this one-man-band.
