I don’t follow sports but I love a good hockey game. They are intense and angsty just like the music I love to listen to. Don’t worry, I’m not going to start writing about hockey games. I’m going to stick to live music but these two worlds collide in Coyote Fire’s new track, “Seventy-Three”.

“Seventy-Three” is inspired by ice hockey rookie Matt Rempe and, much like a good hockey game, wastes no time punching you in the face with Coyote Fire’s signature punk sound. This fuzzy song is perfectly abrasive. Apparently, Matt Rempe spent more time on the ice throwing hands than actually playing hockey and you can feel that kind of energy in this song. It’s a garage punk anthem worthy of a fight or two. Okay, I don’t condone fighting but the energy of this track is so intense and in your face that it’s hard to not want to at least throw a pencil across the room when listening to it. At the same time, Coyote Fire gives you sheer power the entire three and a half minutes that this song lasts. It’s a gritty and raw sounding song but the message and Coyote Fire’s distinct sound come through loud and clear in this song.
