I love music that hooks me sonically. That typically comes with a pop-punk bop or an extreme, in-your-face kind of metal song but, in the case of “Kissing Strangers” from Aaron Orbit, I was hooked by the uniqueness.
Everything about this song is unique from the song title all the way to the video. It had me intrigued instantly and in love within mere seconds. I’ll be honest, sonically, this song is definitely out of left field when compared to what I typically share out. It’s a little post-punk but also very indie rock yet something about the composition kept me on my toes and wondering where this song would go. The video is just as intriguing as the song. It shows Aaron Orbit (or at least I assume it’s Aaron Orbit) dancing (okay, it’s more like flailing) through what looks like a second-hand shop while making various crazy faces and slightly hilarious dance moves. Again, sure, this song is different but I found so much joy in everything about this song and video. There’s creativity here but there’s also simplicity.
