Girl at the Rock Shows

I should probably be more excited that it’s the end of the year but, really, today just feels like another day. I’m at the office with a pile of work to do and really no major plans to celebrate tonight. This isn’t a pity party or anything like that. Honestly, when you go out nearly every night and have a habit of staying up until midnight on any given day, New Years just doesn’t do it for you anymore. It feels like another day and, although I’m not super stoked about tonight, I am stoked to spend today digging into some new music.

Kicking the day off is “Our Whole Hearts” from Our Lives in Cinema. This song is catchy from the get-go with a perfectly punky sound. Right off the bat, the best comparison I can make when it comes to this song is Jeff Rosenstock. “Our Whole Hearts” hits you at a furious pace with a crunchy sound that will give you all the DIY vibes that you need to walk into 2025 in the right mind frame. Our Lives in Cinema are from London so I’m not sure when or if I’ll ever catch them live but listening to “Our Whole Hearts” and feeling the energy that comes through in this short two minute and sixteen second song made me feel like I was sitting through a live set rather than just sitting at my desk. If you need a little pick-me-up this morning or need something to get you in a celebratory mood for the day, I highly suggest turning up your speakers and checking this track out.
