Girl at the Rock Shows

It’s truly insane to think that last night was my final show of 2025 and tomorrow is the final day. It’s been a good year overall but it’s absolutely had it’s ups and downs and, looking back on it, it’s kind of hard to fathom all of the things that went down this year. One of my favorite things about this year is all of the amazing people I’ve met and grown closer to through music and that’s what “We’re Not Yet Alright” from Flush is all about for me.

As the band puts it, this song and the album that it’s on “best represents Flush’s community rock principles; we’re all in this together and we can find community in all kinds of places, bars, rock shows, online, wherever… And we can all sing along to the end “We’re all fucked so let’s be fucked together”! I know that feels a bit harsh but, honestly, that’s the energy I want to take with me into 2025. This song is not super fast or super intense but it drives the point of the lyrics home with the raw heart-on-your-sleeve styled vocals and subtly powerful instrumentation. “We’re Not Yet Alright” will leave you with your fist pumping in the air and your soul lost at a table surrounded by all of your friends both close and distant. It’s truly the energy I think we all need to carry into the new year with us because, at the end of the day, we truly are “all fucked” but you don’t have to be alone.
