I’m starting to feel more like myself after being sick for the past couple of days but now my nose won’t stop running and I can’t stop sneezing. I know this is a sign that whatever sickness I was dealing with is leaving my body which is a good thing but the lack of tissues at my day job has me feeling a bit miserable as I have to blow my nose with scratchy paper towels every couple of minutes. I’ll get through it and am so excited to be on the other side at this point but, right now, it’s a game of “Mind Over Matter” as far as keeping my motivation and energy up today.

ILÆNDER’s new song “Mind Over Matter” is helping me stay alert, stay motivated. Although the subject matter of this song has nothing to do with being sick and trying to get over it, there’s an balance of tenderness and power in this track that is filling my spirit. This song is actually about toxic relationships. The tenderness comes from the feeling of loneliness that comes with leaving a toxic relationship and the sense of power comes from the triumphant energy you feel when you finally walk away. Again, I know that’s a bit more deep than my current illness but this track spoke to me all the same. I love the intricacies that ILÆNDER has put into this song. Sure, it’s an easy one to listen to and to fall into but, as you listen to this song on repeat, you start to pick up on little intricacies put into this track, both vocal and instrumental, that really give “Mind Over Matter” the ear-catching sound that it has. This track is more than just a song, it’s a whole sonic experience so, before you get into work today, spend a couple of minutes lost in this intense and emotional journey.
