It has been almost a year since I shared “October Air” from Number One Sons with you. That’s unacceptable because Number One Sons is a band that is continuously putting out new music and constantly killing it. So here’s my reminder that this band is absolutely worthy of your attention.
If you like Green Day (circa ‘American Idiot’), “Buy Buy Buy” will surely be your new favorite song. Just one listen to this nearly three minute track and the influence is loud and clear. Typically, I hate when bands have such a clear influence as I feel like that leads to a group’s individual style getting lost but that’s not the case with Number One Sons. Sure, this song sounds straight off of ‘American Idiot’ but it has a flare to it that Green Day did not have that album. There’s just a slightly stronger edge of angst and a bit more of an alternative rock influence than punk. This leads to a song that is comfortable but fresh. Number One Sons has been around since 2001 and they have loads of material out there with more to come to, if you like what you hear in this new track, make sure to check out more from this amazing St. Louis, MO-based group.
