It’s cold here in the Twin Cities. Like colder than cold. Like don’t even want to leave your house cold. Unfortunately, work doesn’t stop just because it’s cold out and I’m stuck in the office rather than at home all cuddled up with the cats on the couch like I want. I’ll live. It’s just another day and it’s ultimately my choice to live in a place where the air hurts your face through the winter but I need something to take my mind off of the cold so let’s get distracted by some new music!

Chub is a four-piece DIY punk band from Ontario, Canada and their sound instantly warmed up. Their new single “CUBA” hits quick and it hits hard with a very DIY punk vibe. The recording quality of this track is somehow perfectly polished while still having a very raw feel to it which leans into the group’s overall style so perfectly. From the shouted vocals and chugging guitars to the way they clear up to a more flowing bridge before jumping back into angsty aggression is absolutely perfect. This song is only one minute and forty-three seconds long but Chub fits so much in here that it doesn’t feel as short as it actually is. When the song does come to it’s abrupt end, it will leave you wanting so much more from Chub.
