The day is speeding by whether I want it to or not. Although I’m getting lots done, it’s not enough and I’m starting to feel the pressure of the week taking its toll on me– it’s only 10:30 AM on Monday. That’s okay, though. As I discussed in my first post of the day, I have a positive attitude and am trying to keep that up, but the stress and constantly building workload of this week is starting to get to me. That being said, I need a breather, so it’s time to check out another new track.
I love the beat that kicks off “Sour Milk” from Skinner. Although simple, it’s catchy and has a little quirkiness behind it. It’s the kind of intro that hooks you but doesn’t give away what’s to come in this brilliant three-and-a-half-minute song. Don’t worry, you don’t have to wait long for Skinner’s signature sound to take over in this track. It’s Irish no-wave. What does that mean? Honestly, I couldn’t tell you, but I can tell you that Skinner does it oh so very well. “Sour Milk” is fuzzy and comes with an almost Distillers styled grit in the vocals, but everything happening in this track comes through loud and clear at the same time. Add a little flare for the dramatic that feels a bit like Gustaf, and you can kind of come close to what Skinner is doing, but, really, there’s no one else doing Irish no-wave like Skinner, so just do yourself a favor and check out this super quirky and catchy track.
