I think it’s safe to say that things got a little weird for all of us during the pandemic when we were all locked in our houses. One of the weird things that I got into was re-watching old TV shows, including Desperate Housewives. I’m not proud of i,t but who am I to deny a trashy TV show that is as flawless as this one? It’s been a hot minute since I’ve done that binge but it’s one I think about doing again (whenever I find the time and am home for more than just sleeping). That’s one of the many reasons I was hooked by “BOYJOY” from Desperate Hauswives.
Much like the show, there’s an almost bratty influence to “BOYJOY.” It’s a fun and playful track about “tapping into your inner child and feeling the excitement of life again.” That’s a message we all need to remember a bit more as life seems to be continuing to get more and more complicated, stressful, and, quite honestly, terrible as time goes on. Although the Desperate Housewives reference seems to end at the band name when it comes to this song, I liked that it adds to the almost playful nature of this group. Listening through this quick two and a half minute song make it clear to me that Desperate Hauswives is a fun band that doesn’t take themselves too seriously yet has a song to sing and a sound that demands to be heard.
