It was the song title of this single that caught me. It’s freezing up here in Minneapolis today. Like beyond freezing. Like when I walked out of my hours this morning to go to the day job, the actual air temperature was -14. The windchill was a number that I don’t even want to say out loud or in my head. These are the reasons why I feel like today is a good day to check out “Burning Up” from R.J. Archer & the Painful Memories because, honestly, I wish I was “Burning Up” right now.
There’s an old soul vibe behind this song that I instantly fell in love with. Although “Burning Up” doesn’t have the standard angst and aggression that I tend to look for when it comes to new music, there’s no shortage of swagger and attitude behind this track which can do the same trick of fooling your body and mind into thinking you have endless amounts of energy to spare. There’s definitely a vintage hue that comes with this song giving me the vibe that this track belonged in the Blow movie soundtrack but don’t let that scare you away from this song. It’s a quick two minute bop that will absolutely have you “Burning Up” with love for R.J. Archer & the Painful Memories by the time it’s done.
