I try to be pretty open with my struggles with anxiety and depression. As you can tell from my posts, I have my good days, I have my bad days, and then I have those days that feel good to start but quickly take a turn for the worst. Much like I write about all of these things, I feel like I really lean into music that is about it, which is the first reason why I was struck by “Anxiety” from Firing at Statues.

“Anxiety” is written from the singer’s perspective. I’ve never met the vocalist of this Glasgow, Scotland-based band, but within just a couple of lines of this track, I felt connected to them and the rest of this band. Their heartfelt lyrics, mixed with the energy that comes through in the instrumentation throughout this three-and-a-half-minute-long song, blend together perfectly to create a song that can either make you want to dance or help you get lost in all of your feelings. That’s the magic of this song. You can listen to it in whatever way you want to either enhance your day or use as a bit of a support song during a rougher day. Regardless of how you interpret “Anxiety” from Firing at Statues, there will be something in this song that hooks you so just sit back, breathe, and enjoy.
