I am supposed to be at work right now, but my little tic-tac of a Prius didn’t stand a chance against the foot of snow that we got. I tried my best. I got halfway off my driveway before I had to give up and wake up the boyfriend to help try and push my car, only to get it back into the garage. Long story short, I’m having a snow day. I feel guilty about it because I hate people that use roads as an excuse to miss work, but I literally can not leave the house. Instead of just pacing around the house feeling guilty, I’m going to take advantage of this surprise snow day and get massive amounts of work done including checking out new songs starting with “Take Me With You” from Decade & A Day.
If you’ve been following me for a bit, Decade & A Day is not a new name. I’ve shared multiple singles from this excellent Nottingham, UK-based pop-punk band because I just can not get enough of them, and I truly think that their new track “Take Me With You” is the best yet. This song reminds me a bit of old-school Dropping Daylight but with a fresh beat. The vocals are a bit deeper than many pop-punk bands, but the instrumentation is nothing short of a pop-punk bop. Lyrically, this song is a bit cliche. It’s about wanting to leave your hometown. It’s about reaching for the stars and following your dreams because you’re fed up with being complacent. Like I said, cliche, but that doesn’t change how the powerful messages hits so hard and perfectly with the way that Decade & A Day presents it. Stay with this song for a bit because after just about two minutes, you get hit with a stunning breakdown before the band falls back in line with their standard and flawless pop-punk antics.
