Girl at the Rock Shows

Life is weird. Being a crazy cat lady is weird. I was dropping my friend off at her apartment last night, and we heard a meowing. I opened my car door to check it out, and boom, a cat was in my car. I took the cat to the emergency vet to see if it was chipped and it wasn’t. I asked the vet what I was supposed to do and all they could do was provide me with numbers from shelters. This didn’t sit well with me so, being me, I took the cat home, got it all set up in my bathroom, and just prayed that my three other cats would leave the bathroom door alone so I could get some sleep. Now it’s the day after. I have an appointment scheduled to take the little nugget in later today to find out if I may have stumbled upon yet another cat (sorry, boyfriend). None of this has anything to do with “Everyone Knows” by Brother Plainview but what a lovely track to kick off what may be a “New Cat Day” for me.

Although I’m feeling bubbly and energized today with the thought of having a new cat, “Everyone Knows” is a reminder that it’s okay to feel down sometimes– you’re supposed to. Hailing from Hong Kong, Brother Plainview has a super chill sound that surrounds and swirls around you with this track. It’s warm and lush with a tender touch to the ear in all of the right ways. Brother Plainview’s first single in four years and now as a three-piece, “Everyone Knows” isn’t the most upbeat and infectious track that I’ll share with you today but I think it’s safe to say that it’s one of the most touching. Even if you’re like me, and in a fairly good mood, this song will lift you up in a super powerful way so you can reach new heights. From the indie rock tone to the subtle alt-rock nods and slightly emo-leaning vocals, “Everyone Knows” from Brother Plainview has it all and is absolutely a perfect way to kick off your Thursday morning.
