Although today has been a good day and I feel like I’m getting a lot done, I’m feeling that afternoon slump starting to hit. I still have a couple of hours left of work before I can go home and take a quick snooze before tonight’s show so I can’t let my motivation slip. I just need a song to keep me in the game and “I Wanted Fun” from SHAGGO is doing just the trick.
“I Wanted Fun” has all of the energy you could possibly ask for or need to get through an afternoon slump. This post-punk leaning but indie-pop feeling song is infectious and full of this subtle sense of angst that, at times, shines through as just pure fun. As the band puts it, this song is “an anti-lovebomb anthem” and, if you know my personally, you know that’s 100% up my alley. This is song seems to throw all rules and all standards out the window if all of the right ways. It’s quirky and unique, fun and energetic and one of those songs that, even if you don’t love it, will oddly get stuck in your head for days to come. There’s a power that comes from SHAGGO and I highly suggest you spend some time with this song and this band in general if you want to add some fun to your Thursday.
