I’ve been on the verge of a mental breakdown since I woke up this morning. I’m not sure what it is. Maybe exhaustion, maybe stress, whatever it is, I’m over it. I honestly feel fine but every little thing is stressing me out more than the last thing and I can already feel that today is going to be one of those days where, no matter how much I get done, it won’t be enough and I can’t help but be hard on myself because of it. That being said, there’s no stopping. There’s no time for a break and no time to throw a pathetic pity party so let’s just forge ahead and hope that checking out some new music will help snap me out of it.
The first single of the day is “Filters” from The Kanz. The first single off of The Kanz’s new album, “Filters” is a pop-punk anthem that instantly filled me with a sense of energy that I didn’t know I could have on such a sleepy Friday morning. There’s a blend of humor and frustration in this song that dazzles alongside the intricate instrumentation so perfectly. I especially loved this feeling of liberating joy that I got throughout the song. Although this song is perfectly polished when it comes to the mixing and mastering, there’s a DIY ethos that seems to come through with every passing beat. That’s just the icing on the cake when it comes to “Filters” and The Kanz’s overall sound making them a band that I suspect I’ll be spending a lot more time with today.
