I’m honestly having a pretty good day, which is insane because I’m drowning in work, but something about today just has me feeling good and calm. Maybe that has to do with all of the amazing new music I’ve been hearing today, like “Save Me” from Treewax.

Truthfully, “Save Me” is not as upbeat as my current mood. It’s actually a pretty depressing song that “captures the raw desperation of clinging to something already lost,” as the band puts it. That being said, the beauty within this song was not lost on me. It’s oddly heavy but also sensitively tender at the same time, creating this unspoken sense of tension, but also a sense of triumphant energy at the same time. I love how the vocals, depending on the words they are singing, seem to have tones that span all kinds of emotions. From self-doubt to resilience, depression to joy, this slightly grunge-inspired alt-rock sound is a stunner, to say the least, and is more than worthy of a couple of minutes of your time today.
