Happy Thursday, everyone! We’ve almost made it to the weekend, and I am so ready for it. Although it’s going to be another busy weekend, I’m excited for mornings when I don’t have to set an alarm for an ungodly hour and days where I can just focus on music stuff, not the literal nuts and bolts of my day job. We still have two full work days before we get there but let’s get a headstart on the weekend by checking out some amazing new music starting with “Tom Delonge” from Fun While It Lasted.
This is a classic pop-punk song in all the right ways. From the infectious beat to relatable lyrics about life in general, everything about this song is just bright, sunny, and fun. Honestly, there’s something juvenile about this song, especially with the first line, which is about the main character’s Xbox being taken away from them by their mom, but there’s a depth that comes with that “memory.” The song goes on to bring up other moments that make up our lives that create a sense of tension and stress but, the upbeat jam that is this track helps keep the song light-hearted and fun. Honestly, I thought I would have so much more to say about this song but, as I sit here listening to “Tom Delonge” on repeat and trying to find the right words, I am lost. Truthfully, Fun While It Lasted just has a super fresh sound and one that is so fun making it the perfect pick-me-up song to get you moving on this Thursday morning so just do yourself a favor and check it out and then show this band some love.
