We made it to Friday, ya’ll. I hope you had a great week and cheers to an amazing weekend. I’m looking forward to leaving my day job today and not thinking about it for the next two days but know that my weekend will still be full of other work. That’s not a complaint. I thrive in extreme stress and constant work but there are some times I wonder what it’s like to have a weekend where you don’t work. Turhtfully, I’ll probably never know what that feels like but I do know what it feels like to hear a song that instantly hooks you because that’s exactly what happened the first time I heard “Punching Bag” from 86 Red.

I love how this song has a huge vibe around it and is a bit aggressive at times but, overall, stay melodic and firmly placed in an almost 90s styled alt-rock genre. From grungey breaks to intricate little riffs that dazzle like a lake under the moonlight, “Punching Bag” has it all and is one of those songs that definitely intrigues you the first time you hear it. The boisterous size of the sound in this quick, two-and-a-half minute long song will give you a burst of energy but the overall chillness of the tempo and a super interesting break about half way through the song will get your soul a sense of peace that, on a manic Friday morning, I think we could all use.
