I’m not typically one for a sunny day. Truthfully, I love stormy and turbulent weather but something about the way the sun is coming into my office today mixed with the perfect blue hue of the sky has me feeling brighter and lighter about everything. It seems only fitting to check out a song that seems to share this feeling and that song is “Gotta Let It Go” from GOLDEN.
Do you ever hear a song and instantly feel like you should be in a convertible heading down a highway that lines the coast? That’s this song, and although I’m stuck in my little office with bare walls and very little personality (it’s on my to-do list), I felt my mind wander to the California coast with the top down and the music up. “Gotta Let It Go” is an optimistic and free-feeling little bop. I’m not sure how GOLDEN, a band from West Virginia, was able to encapsulate the sound of the California sun so perfectly but why question a good thing? “Gotta Let It Go” is definitely pop-punk, but the punk lean of this song is slight and, at times, it almost feels more indie rock than anything else. Whether you are feeling good today because of the sunshine or struggling because it’s just another day that you are probably stuck at work for, “Gotta Let It Go” from GOLDEN will surely bring a smile to your face and a perfect daydream to your head.
