Some days I like really long and epic songs. Songs that are easy to get lost in and set off a trail of daydreams behind them. Other days, I want things a bit more down and dirty. Quick songs that catch my attention but also allow my ADD to run free. Today is one of those days. I’m all over the place. I’m getting a lot done, but staying on one task for more than a couple of minutes is difficult. I’m not going to fight it. I’m taking it and running with it, so I need a song to match.
“Maybe” from NOTADOG is short and sweet at only two minutes and some change, but this track absolutely packs a punch. Not only is it full of an authentic DIY punk attitude, but it’s also full of a message that will absolutely allow your ADHD to take over if only for a couple of minutes. It’s a song that talks about the struggle of dealing with the phrase, “What could be?” I have some days when that phrase affects me more than others, but today is one of those days where it’s a question that’s been circling in my head, so hearing NOTADOG take that mind-numbing and spiraling question and turn it into a catchy and raw song was absolutely perfect. “Maybe” is only the second single from NOTADOG, but I think there is a very, very bright future for this band, especially if they keep making music that is as catchy as it is vulnerable.
