I don’t really have anything for you right now. It’s just another day of work where, although I feel like I’m getting a lot done, I feel like I still have so much more to accomplish. It’ll never all get done, but I’m okay with that, and instead of freaking out about it, I figure I deserve a little break and a treat in the form of a new song.
“Bleach in the Lasagna” from Caifein is just what I needed this morning. This punky little jam is full of a wall of sound that can only be described as Caifein. The song builds for the first few seconds, but when that wall of sound hits you, it hits you hard. There are elements of everything from punk to hardcore to grunge woven into this song, making it feel like an ever-changing kind of anthem that is nothing short of a rollercoaster. What really stood out to me, beyond the unique sound of this band, is their playing with time signatures. Just when you feel like Caifein is getting into a groove, they change things completely and take an odd twist into a whole other world. “Bleach in the Lasagna” doesn’t sound like an enjoyable thing, but don’t let the song name fool you. This song is as challenging and unique as it is flawless and perfect.
