Girl at the Rock Shows

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic Halloween weekend and got out there to enjoy some amazing music as well! I know I did and I know that I’m paying the price for a nutty weekend this morning but I regret nothing and am low-key excited to see what this new week will bring when it comes to music. Let’s get the week started off right by checking out “I Know You” from HEDMARK.

HEDMARK is a one-man band from Norway. Wait, maybe I shouldn’t start this off that way because, if I didn’t say that this was a one-man band, you never would have known. This track is all power and a perfect sonic assault that seems to be a bit more than just one person could create but HEDMARK has done it and then some. There’s something severe and intense about some of the background of this track but there’s also a whimsical feeling that comes from some of the vocals and the way their tone drifts over the extreme instrumentation. Although HEDMARK calls himself a one-man post-black-metal band, I’m getting more of a shoegaze tone with a post-rock sound. Don’t get me wrong, there’s an intensity to this song that could be considered something a bit more metal but black metal? That may be a stretch. Regrdless, “I Know You” is a stunning show of power and talent that is absolutely worthy of your attention and time this morning.
