Can someone please make today stop? Seriously? Just when I get caught up on my day job and start to turn my attention to one of my other pans in the fire, something happens and I have to go back to day job mode, leaving my other stuff half-cooked. This is nothing new, but between this and a group chat I’m in, blowing the eff up right now, I’m just needing a little break from all the things. Stopping to check out a new song is not a great idea right now, as I am so freaking swamped, but it’s something that will surely keep me sane, so screw it, I’m doing it.

The second I saw this song come across my desk, I thought of Motion City Soundtrack. We all know that ‘Commit This To Memory’ was the best Motion City Soundtrack album ever made, so it’s no surprise that that’s where my head went, but I will say that this band is giving that association a run for its money. “Birds of a Feather” is a pop-punk-perfect jam that definitely lives in the world of bands like Motion City Soundtrack, but also brings a little heaviness to the table in the vein of Neck Deep, and then brings nods to Midwestern Emo in the lyrics, giving the emotions in this song a little Hot Mulligan edge. Like I said — Pop-punk is perfect for those nostalgia seekers like myself or those who are just really vibing with the pop-punk scene these days. Honestly, I can see my email blowing up in the background of this post, so I don’t have the time to continue gushing about how amazing this song and band are but trust me, you’ll get it and hear it if you just give Commit This To Memory a chance and check out “Birds of a Feather.”
