Girl at the Rock Shows

It’s already been a bumpy morning as far as work stuff is concerned, but things are starting to even out, and I hope that’s the going trend for the rest of the day. Whether it is or not, I want to set myself up for success with a banger soundtrack to help me get through this Monday, so let’s jump into some new music, starting with “Fear” from High Press.

I was instantly taken aback by the beauty that kicks this song off. Although it isn’t a super energized opening to a track, there was something about it that hooked me, and as you finally see the sheer power of High Press after about fifty seconds of this calm beginning, it all made sense. The beginning of this track is a ramp-up to a song that literally feels like a heart on a sleeve. It’s raw and exposed in a way, but comes with such a polished finish that it feels arena-ready in a way. Stylistically, this song is a little pop-punk, a little just standard rock, a little alt-rock, and all passion. There were moments that felt a bit more commercial than I tend to go, but those were balanced out by the sheer fire that comes with every word and every beat. Although there’s something super deep and intimate about this song, there’s also something ridiculously catchy about it at the same time, making “Fear” from High Press a perfect way to kick off your week.
