If you know me, you know I go with my gut. I talk about it often in this blog. On nights where there are multiple shows happening and there’s no way I can get to all of them, I always go with my gut, and it rarely leads me astray. That’s what “STEADY HANDS” from FRANK is about. Not necessarily about choosing shows based on your gut, but just trusting yourself and getting through the feeling of self-doubt that we all have to deal with.

This song is a fuzzed-out rock anthem. I love how the instrumentation is heavy and dirty feeling, but the vocals of FRANK cut through the fuzz so perfectly. It’s a little Queens of the Stone Age meets something a bit more Distillers feeling when it comes to the attitude. The ebb and flow behind this song is not what you may think. It’s the kind of song where you may think you know where it’s going to go, but just like that, FRANK changes the game and takes you on a whole other journey than what you had been predicting. I got caught up in the swagger of FRANK’s voice, but I could see how, if you’re an instrumentation person, the instrumentation of this song would be more than enough to get you hooked. No matter how you take this song, it’s the kind of track that is going to hook you while leaving you with a message to always trust your gut, and honestly, I think we need more of that in this world.
