“Ashes” is not the first song I’ve shared out from Taken Alive, and it surely won’t be the last. I’ve actually shared a bunch of songs from these guys, but I just can’t get enough of them, so I’m here to remind you about how amazing they are by raving about “Ashes.”

“Ashes” is about reaching your breaking point, knowing it, but being unable to leave. This can relate to a relationship, a friendship, a job, really, anything, and I think that’s one of the many things that makes this song such a stunner. It’s easy to relate to. You can feel tension at moments throughout this song ,but those moments are contrasted by feelings of everything from defeat to triumph. There’s something hopeful in this song that I feel like my soul really needed today, but at the same time, the lyrics made me feel seen. Beyond all of this is just the overall instrumentation and the power that comes with it throughout this song. Although it’s powerful, the instrumentation stops show of overpowering the words or emotion and really just enhances all of the magic happening throughout this song. Seriously, get on this Taken Alive train now. I promise you won’t regret it!
