I’ve never been to Delaware. Honestly, I haven’t spent much time in general in that part of the country. I’ve done DC, New York City and upstate New York but, beyond that, the northeast is like an unknown wilderness to me. Maybe I would love it. I know they get some awesome snow storms and that’s something that I live for but, honestly, Delaware? I mean, how much do you know about Delaware. This all has nothing to do with this new song from Awful Din outside of the fact that it is called “Goodbye Delaware” but don’t let this tortured introduction stop you from checking out this amazing track.
“Goodbye Delaware” is the second single from Awful Din’s new album ‘ANTI BODY’ which just came out late last month. This song instantly made my heart get stuck in my throat. The amount of emotion that can be felt within just the first two words of “Goodbye Delaware” is nothing short of staggering but the emotion doesn’t stop there. This song has a Wonder Years kind of grit behind it with an Early November kind of tenderness. Sure, you can get the message from the lyrics in this song. It’s a song about pushing through– about separating ourselves from our bodies which will inevitably breakdown but you can also get that message from the energy throughout this song. Just when you think you’ve figured Awful Din out, the give you a little insight into some of their influences by paying homage to one of the great original pop-punk bands. What band is it? How do their pay homage to it? I’m not going to ruin that for you but will say that this song kick started my rock and roll heart.
