I feel like my office is the only place open today. I don’t quite understand why. Sure, we got some snow but, come on people, we live in the Twin Cities, of course we got snow. I think sine getting here about three hours ago, the phone has rung twice and one of those was an employee calling in “sick.” I’ve gotten all of four emails. Long story short, it’s dead in here. Typically I would hate this as it makes time go so slow but, today, I’m using it to my advantage and getting loads of work done. The only thing missing thus far is some new music so let’s focus on that a wee bit by checking out “Clara” from Nameless Friends.

Nameless Friends is not a new band to me as I have checked out and even written about their music before but this is one of those bands where each song seems to show a different side of the group. “Clara” focuses on the way this band is so brilliant with dynamics. “Clara” starts off relatively slow and calm but quickly grows into a perfectly thrashy and powerful anthem. Don’t get me wrong, you still absolutely feel and hear Nameless Friends’ unique and distinct style of glam rock in this song but I think I got more lost in the rises and falls throughout this track and the way that the vocals eerily dance over it all adding this almost haunting kind of vibe. I’m not going to call this a spooky song as that doesn’t quite fit here but I will say that that haunting vibe is alive and well and just adds that extra little razzle-dazzle that can only come from a band as talent and creative as Nameless Friends.
