Girl at the Rock Shows

Did you all survive the snowpocalypse. I’ll be honest, I found it a bit disappointing. I wanted the two feet of snow. Instead, we got a good amount (about seven inches) but not enough to shut down the world. It was, however, enough to cancel my favorite band of all time from playing on Sunday night. I was crabby all day Sunday about it but made the best of it by having an actual date day with my boyfriend (which we really don’t get to do much). The time off, although frustrating, was lovely and it has set me up for success as far as motivation and energy goes on this cold and blustery Monday. Well, that and the fact that my day is starting off with “X-Ray”, the brand new song from Casablanca Drivers.

“X-Ray” is one of those swagger filled kinds of songs that instantly makes you happy. It starts off with a fairly simple beat but that beat, that persists throughout this song, is full of life, energy, an this unspoken sense of positivity. There are explosions scattered throughout this song that will instantly jolt you back to life if you’re not having that same, energized morning that I am but there are also moments that act as a calming mediation of sorts. You can either get completely mesmerized by this song or get completely woken up by it. Either way, Casablanca Drivers will have you hooked with “X-Ray.” Stylistically, this song is somewhere between LCD Soundsystem and !!! but with a swagger that feels so perfectly unique. When you add in the video that comes with the track, you are left with absolutely perfection. I’m not going to give away everything about this video but will say that it adds yet another level of brilliant energy to this already brilliantly energized song.
